It's not just overclaim. It's UK overclaim.

If you’re - for any reason - musing this morning on the UK, over-confidence and international football tournaments, then this could be your moment to revisit the high water mark…

Listened to it recently for the first time in years, and time has only added to its glory.
(And to that of the keeper’s haircut.)

Of particular magnificence is the paean about halfway through to the manager;

“he’s our Muhammad Ali, he’s Alistair McLeod".

Shouldn’t the ASA have got involved?

Professional not working

Is it just me, or is anyone else’s first thought now when invited to link in, ‘blimey, old x has been fired!’ ?
Especially when it’s someone you haven’t heard from in a while?

It seems organically to have become the acknowledged method of getting the discreet word out either that you’ve been canned, you’re about to be canned or it’s all looking a bit dodgy so better fire up the old networks.

If so, I fear we’re all going to be receiving a lot more invitations over the next few months…

I'm not sloveing it

Now I like a pun as much as the next man.
(According to my partners, a great deal more.)

But even I’m drawing the line at this one…

(Dave also has a thought or two on the art direction, but that’s for another post.)

Hopefully its appearance won’t have the same effect on world travel as Austria’s bizarre ultimatum (see previous post) did.

Twenty-four hours after it broke, that unpronounceable volcano blew its top and the ‘now’ option was taken firmly off the table.

Unlucky lot, those Austrians.

This means nothing to me

This is the weirdest message I’ve seen in a long time…

Vienna, as I understand it, is one of Europe’s oldest cities.
So why the sudden rush?
Are there demolition plans?
Is it about to be merged with Salzburg…or perhaps subject to a hostile takeover by Berlin?

And given that it can’t be now - pending apocalypse notwithstanding, I’ve got stuff on and can’t just drop it like that - then according to this, it’s got to be never.

Which is a bit of a shame really.

The cold grey sky, those pizzicato strings…I’d been quite looking forward to it one day.

Friday night, Tuesday morning

The ‘Dry Day’ celebrations in Bristol on Friday night went swimmingly.

The advertising got great coverage across the city…

The Miners Arms in Bedminster Down (Dry Day HQ) scrubbed up nicely for the occasion…

And the heroic facebook group leaders were all there, including its Chairman, Tony Wilkins.
(Who also won the raffle for Blackthorn goodies, lucky fellow…)

The murmurs team eventually staggered homeward, clinging to our commemorative black pint glasses (and the lyrics to an extensive number of Wurzels numbers.)

Meanwhile, up in the smoke our new national campaign for the brand has already caught The Sun’s attention…

So it’s exciting times right now for Blackthorn and DHM.

And by the way, if something’s getting under your professional skin right now, get ‘thorning’ at www.thewayitshouldbe.com

You know you’ll feel better for it…
